While metal roofing can be smooth, reflective, and tough to instal, most metal roof projects aren’t as complex as they appear. Of course, metal roofing may be used on any roof, but let’s look at a simple hipped roof for a moment.Do you want to learn more? Visit Kirkland Roof Installation
All of the sides of the building slope down to the ground. Two of the sides are trapezoidal, while the other two are triangular.
On all sides, a typical residential home with metal roofing will have the same pitch or slope.
Is It Necessary To Remove The Existing Roof?
Metal roofing can be put over existing roofing as long as the roof structure can support the weight. It adds a substantial amount of weight and necessitates roof support shoring.
The most efficient way to instal a metal roof is to tear off the old one, build new supports, and start over.
Start at the very top.
The tape measure, a useful instrument, now enters the picture. Before you order supplies, you must first determine the length of covering required between the eave and the ridgepole, which runs from front to back and supports the rafters.
Consider the roof as a triangle cross section with the longest side down. This is referred to as a “truss,” and it also refers to the “run distance.”
Measure the triangle leg that connects each end of the run distance to the ridgepole. This is referred to as the “rising distance.” The rise distance is the same on both sides in our scenario.
You can use this information to calculate the square footage of your roof and how much roofing material to order.
Enhancing the Framework
The insulating layer comes next. Because moisture is present on all roofs, you must prevent it from penetrating the sheathing.
The process of installation starts at the very edge. To begin, edging should be installed around the entire roof overhang. This is accomplished by fastening to the roof framework and overhanging the gutter system’s edge.
Place the metal panels horizontally, square to the edge, and slightly overhanging. Secure the panels to the structure with washer-head screws spaced a foot apart (to keep water out). Snapping a chalk line at each level to position the screws on the frame and produce an attractive picture from the ground would be a wonderful practise.
