The advantages of this rack design are that they are popular, inexpensive and simple to mount. The downside is that it can be hard for them to get into the rear trunk or hatch area, which can be a pain.

Truck Mount Bike Racks – These types of racks can be placed against the trunk of vehicles and are contoured and built so that almost any vehicle can fit. Using ratcheting straps that keep the rack and the bikes very tightly, they are held to the vehicle. The advantage of these rack styles is that they are very flexible and can fit a variety of different vehicles. The downside is that it is easy to steal them.
